Everyday Minerals Sample Kit

First of all, I apologize for not updating my blog! I've been buried with homework and work lately, which has reduced time to do things for myself (or you!).

Recently I was browsing Makeup Alley looking at concealer reviews and bumped into Everyday Minerals. Their concealer had a high review, however, that's not what ended up reeling me in!

I was clicking around EM's website and ran into a fairly nice deal. 5 foundation samples for FREE. Did I just say free? Indeed I did! Only catch is that you pay for shipping (I paid $3.08 for shipping), which is still dirt cheap. So I got 5 foundation samples (which claim to last for 5-7 applications). I ordered the Light kit, I was thinking about ordering Medium too but I decided to wait and see if any of the Light kit matches me, then I can place another order (and get the kit for free + shipping). Especially since winter is heading soon, that means our summer-kissed tans will secede.

I placed my order last night and today I received the confirmation email letting me know that they shipped out my order already! Excuse my whilst I dance around my room from joy! The email also had the delivery confirmation for USPS so I can track my order. I'm quite pleased already.

I plan on doing a separate blog post on the EM Try Me Free kit when I receive it, along with reviews on the fomula itself. I believe the kit comes in the "Intensive" formula, I may be wrong. However, I will also be making a video on it for those lazy to read posts. Also, I will make sure to charge my camera so I can take pictures for you guys. I'm sure that would be more helpful than anything.

MAC Prolong Concealer Reiew

MAC Prolong Concealer, priced at $16.50 for a .30 oz, glass vial with a pump. This concealer was released with the Prolong Wear collection - which will remain permanent.

About the product itself, it is a creamy, medium to full coverage concealer. I usually don't build up my concealer so I can't say if that claim is true, however, it is for sure medium coverage. It's not light, but I think you can probably dilute some of it with a moisturizer for lighter coverage. It feels light weight on the skin, looks very natural as well.

This is the product that is supposed to replace the to-be discontinued Moisturecover concealer. So if you love that concealer, this may be a good option to look at.

I'm happy to announce that I have not experienced any break outs using this product, even with my oily acne-prone skin.

I have worn this product without any type of setting powder, just the color itself, and it has lasted a long, long time without transfering. That is a big plus for me. It lasts even longer when it's set. I did notice that it does settle into lines the slightest bit - which isn't a big deal unless you're looking at yourself 1 inch away from the mirror or something. I will say that it lives up to the 15-hour wear claim! I am quite thrilled that I don't have to worry about my concealer wearing off or anything.

I did mention that in the video, the color is slightly dark for me. I noticed that occurs when I pack it on, however, if I blend it out well it doesn't seem to be a problem for me. Color matching for myself is quite confusing. That's my only problem with this product.

Overall, you get more product for the prolong wear concealer compared to the other concealers that MAC offers. But, you get less color choices compared to the others. This one skips a few concealer numbers like NC25, non existant in this range. That's another flaw for some customers. The make up artist at MAC did state that these run a little darker compared to say, Studio Fix Fluid. You want to make sure you get yourself matched and don't purchase it blindly online. Ask for samples if you find yourself in-between two colors.

Another potential draw back is the fact that it's packaged in a glass bottle. Yes, you heard me. Glass bottle. That's why it kept making that tapping noise everytime my nails touched it! You would have to be very careful if you travel with this, or even have hard-floors compared to carpet. I think I would cry if I dropped it and it cracked (UD mildew I'm looking at you!!). A both + and - would be the pump. The pump makes it sanitary to use compared to dipping your finger in a pot or using a doe-foot applicator to use it. I've applied it using my fingers, those are one of the best tools I have! However, even when you press it, you want to do it carefully so you don't end up with too much product. I use this just for under my eyes and it's a lot. I apply the rest of it to my upper lip to cover my acne scaring around there!

My rating: 3.5/5
I'd check it out if I could. If you don't need a concealer, then skip.
